Global Esports, the most reputed Indian Valorant team, finally disband, after 2 years of ups and downs, countless memories, and much more. Let us reminisce all of those memories through this article.
The Valorant Journey of Global Esports started way back in 2020, in the Skyesports Championship 2.0, on 23rd October 2020, when they won Phase 2 of the tournament. Who would have guessed, that following this win, will lead to the formation of the greatest Indian Valorant team to ever exist.
Later this year, GE also lost three super close matchups against Velocity Gaming (who rebranded to Team Mahi), this was heating up GE vs VLT matchup, which later went on as being called the "Val-Classico" .
The Grand Finals of The Esports Club Challenger Series 5 marked the end of 2020 for Global Esports, where they lost 1:3 to Team Mahi.
2021 started with a bang, for Global Esports, as they won the first tournament of the year for them, which was The Esports Club Invitational, thanks to a comfortable 3:1 win against Godlike. Few weeks passed by, and they went on a killing spree, winning 5 tournaments continuously.
They also had a lot of matchups against there rivals, Team Mahi (Velocity Gaming) wherein they beat them 6 times continuously. The year was going awesome for GE, they were on a tournament winning streak, a comfortable lead in Head 2 Head against there rivals. It was then, when Valorant Conquerors Championship, South Asia's road to APAC LCQ was announced. This tournament was hosted by Nodwin Gaming, what was even better was that the Winner of this tournament was to be given a shot at the APAC LCQ.
The tournament format was quite simple, each sub region in South Asia had a separate qualifier, while India had 2. In the first Indian Qualifier, per usual, the finals was Velocity Gaming vs Global Esports. After a gruesome series of 4 maps, VLT took the win in that matchup 3:1, breaking GE's streak, and securing a spot in the main event.
Global did not lose hope here, and made it to the main event through the second qualifiers for India.
Meanwhile, they also played in The Esports Club Gauntlet Season 1, where they lost in a super close 2:3 matchup against VLT.
The D-Day had arrived, Both Global Esports and Velocity Gaming, there eternal rivals, had managed to make it to the grand finals of Valorant Conquerors Championship, for a shot at the 16,500 $ prizepool and the APAC LCQ slot.
After a hot-blooded 5 map series against VLT , Global managed to win it, coming back from 3-9 deficit, to 13-10, not only lifting the VCC trophy and winning the grand prize of 16,500$, but also secured there spot at APAC LCQ later the same year. This was a huge moment in there careers, as this was the first time any South Asian team would go to represent India, at the international stage.
This day, to this date, has been super memorable for the entirety of Global Esports fanbase.
Preparations for VCT APAC LCQ had begun with full throttle. GE hired shinobi, ex C9-Val player, as temporary coach for the team, to help them in there LCQ journey. For there debut match at the LCQ, they faced Damwon Gaming, whom they beat 2:1. Following this, were there matches against Paper Rex and F4Q, both of which they lost, finishing 7th position at the LCQ.
Although this was a set back, the gameplay which Global Esports showed at the LCQ, had set the bar high, for all South Asian Valorant-ers.
The year ended for Global Esports, following few tournaments, most of which they won.
2022 had begun, the VCT Circuit was announced, and it had a huge surprise for South Asia. The region had been included in the 2022 VCT APAC Circuit, following 2 direct slots into challengers. The first tournament, for qualification to VCT APAC Challengers 1, was hosted by Nodwin Gaming, titled "Valorant Conquerors Championship #2" . Global Esports faced huge upsets in the tournament, losing to Enigma Gaming, God Particles, but none the less, managed to qualify for the main event. In the main event Grand Finals, they lost to Velocity Gaming, 2:3, securing a slot in the VCT APAC Challengers 1 Play-ins. Wherein they lost to Fancy United Esports and Griffin Esports, finishing 19th position. This was a huge setback for not only the fans but also the team, bringing upon a huge toll on there mental. They somehow managed to fight back. For South Asian slot at VCT APAC Challengers 2, a LAN event in Chennai was to be held, by Skyesports. Before this, another LAN event, was held in Mumbai by Skyesports. Both these LANS were super hyped, not only because they were first of there kind, but also because the fan favorites were going to fight it out, for a shot at all the glory. GE being GE, managed to win both the LAN events.
They had secured the Group Stages spot at VCT APAC Challengers 2, while Enigma Gaming, who were the runners up, secured a slot in the play-ins. In APAC Challengers 2, Global Esports faced Alter Ego and Rex Regum Qeon, both of to whom they lost.
This also marked not only there's, but also South Asia's run in the 2022 VCT Circuit. It wasn't over yet though. Valorant Partner Program was announced, and more than 200 organizations from around the globe had applied, including Global Esports. On September 21st, It was finally announced, Global Esports had made it, to the Valorant Partnership Program. Out of the 200 esports organizations who had applied, GE were one of the thirty to get accepted. This was huge, not only for the org, but for the fans as well, giving them a new ray of hope.
Post this, Global Esports core 5 members started playing as GodSquad.
These 2 years have been full of memories for the roster, not only did they prove themselves time and time again, but also made it clear, that South Asia is a region to watch out for!
