COUNTER LOGIC GAMING HALT ALL THEIR OPERATIONS, MASS LAYOFFS ON THE WAY
Few days ago, Reporter Travis Grafford published his YouTube video stating Counter Logic Gaming is set to halt their operations. So let’s get into details about the org, it’s history and their journey till date.
CLG : THE BEGINNING :-
Counter Logic Gaming (aka CLG) is a North American esports organization, headquartered at Los Angeles, California. The org was founded in April 2010, primary as a League of Legends team, by George "HotshotGG" Georgallidis and Alexander "Vodoo" Beutel. Since then, it has spread out it’s branches to many other competitive titles.
CLG is famous for fielding, by far, the oldest League of Legends active team. People are pretty much aware about their presence in the esports industry through their LCS operations. They are known for competing in EVERY split since the first LCS tournament which began back in 2013. However, this comes to an end with NRG buying the former's spot in the League and perhaps signing the CLG LCS roster. Crazy, isn’t it?
CLG SIGNS DOTA 2 ROSTER :-
On 2nd February 2012, the organization announced its entry into Dota 2, by acquiring the Swedish dotes roster of eXperience Gaming. However, their journey in Dota was quite a short one as they announced their departure from the game, by disbanding the roster in October of the same year.
CLG MARKS THEIR HALO PRESENCE :-
On 10th November 2014, CLG marked their entry into Halo by signing Shoot 2 Kill Halo roster. The roster played under the banner of “Counter Logic Gaming Halo”.
Two years later, CLG announced their departure from Halo on 14th September, 2016.
CLG STEPS INTO CSGO :-
On 16th January of 2015, CLG introduced their new CSGO division. Back then, they acquired mouseSpaz roster which consisted of FNS (currently playing professional valorant under NRG and also considered to be one of the best IGLs in the game) , Hazed, Tarik (arguably the most entertaining valorant streamer in the world), reltuC and ptr.
On 30th November 2017 , CLG announced their exit from CSGO. It was published in the form of a farewell video in their official YouTube channel. While their two years span in the game might not have been the best one, but it was surely filled with memories, trophies and glory.
CLG OVERWATCH DIVISION :-
Counter Logic Gaming introduced their overwatch division back in 16th December, 2016. The roster was primarily focused on competing in North American OW tournaments. The initial players of the roster included Hydration, waffletastic, iShiny, Miso , The and Mikado. The coaching was looked over, by Cuddles. However, just like dota 2 , CLG's journey in OW was a short one, too. CLG took an exit from the game, on 21st September, 2017.
While these were some of the most famous rosters of CLG, the list doesn't stop here. The organization had rosters in multiple other titles like Rainbow Six, Apex Legends, Fortnite, etc.
The end to Counter Logic Gaming's esports journey is a sad one. Although, it has been rumored a lot in the past that the org has been facing financial issues since a lot of time, the end is finally here.
